The Nature School Primary

The Nature School Primary (TNS Primary) strives to be a leading progressive independent school with a focus on nature.

In 2019 TNS Primary are fully registered for Kindergarten to Year 3, and will continue adding grade levels and additional staff year-on-year until they reach a K-6 Primary School.

The strategic plan is to one day move to a permanent home with ecological buildings situated in a bushland environment.

The Nature School Early Years

The Nature School Early Years (TNS Early Years) program is aimed at children 3 years and older. Operating similarly to a pre-school setting, therefore parents are not required to attend the session. Children must be independent in toileting to attend.

The sessions run in 10 weeks blocks, in line with school terms. At TNS Early Years, children learn through their own and shared exploration of the natural environment.

Each program has a rhythm of the day which helps guide the flow of the day. The day is based around The Early Years’ base camp. With sessions taking place rain, hail or shine.

TNS Early Years operates from a variety of bushland settings within 5-20 minutes of Port Macquarie.

Little Explorers Playgroup

Little Explorers Playgroup is an opportunity for families to be introduced to The Nature School’s vision ‘a world in which all people learn from and within nature‘ and to its concepts of creative, child-led and unstructured nature play.

Little Explorers Playgroup is for babies and young children aged 0-3 years and their older siblings; accompanied by their parents, carers, and grandparents.

Taking place entirely outdoors children spend the session in a wild space, driving their own learning through the exploration of the natural environment. The sessions are mostly unstructured; children are invited to discover the natural environment at their own pace, noticing things that interest them and exploring.

This gives children the opportunity to gain confidence in the world around them and learn how to manage risks, use their unending imagination and creativity, and build respect for one another and for the natural environment.

School Holiday Programs

The Nature School (TNS) also offer School Holiday Programs for children of school age (5-12 years old). Each program maintains the philosophies of TNS and vary in location.

TNS Holiday Programs allow children to experience activities like exploring nature, outdoor yoga, bush craft and weaving, map and compass reading. The mixed age group environment supports children of all ages to build on their empathy, social and communication skills.
